Mikko Hirvonen rolled his car on SS4 and is now out of the rally. The stage started two minutes late as some spectators had to be asked to go the marked spectator areas. Few spots of rain, the black clouds are gone. Safety car crews report some quite big stones, which should not affect the WRC cars, but the smaller ones have to go around the stones.
Sébastien Loeb/Daniel Elena
The spoiler-related problem persists. "I’m amazed at how much the damage actually affects the handling."
Petter Solberg/Chris Patterson
"That stage was very difficult the second time around. There are deep ruts and my car is too low for these conditions. I must save my car for tomorrow."
Dani Sordo/Marc Marti
Sordo set the fastest time on this stage. The crew were congratulating each other. "We decided to go flat out even though the stage is quite rough."
Matthew Wilson/Scott Martin
"Maybe I was too careful in the stage but the ruts are very deep. The safest way to drive is to stay in the ruts. Otherwise, the car is fine."
Henning Solberg/Ilka Minor
Henning had a big smile on his face. "We cut down a road sign and maybe that damaged the car a bit. The gearbox and differential were probably causing the earlier problems. "
Mads Östberg/ Jonas Andersson
"We had a puncture when we hit a stone after a jump. It was not possible to avoid that and we had to change the tyre."
Jari Ketomaa/Mika Stenberg
There is slight damage to the front left rim. "We can’t afford to slow down. We drove at full speed."
Per Gunnar Andersson/Anders Fredriksson
"The settings on the car are now better than in the morning but I’m not yet fully satisfied."
Matti Rantanen/Mikko Lukka
"Hänninen is going very fast. We lost quite a lot to him. His experience helps him when the road gets worse. We’ll try to set good times."
