Sakon Yamamoto will make his third Grand Prix start of the season for the Spanish HRT squad this weekend in Hungary. After replacing team regular Bruno Senna at Silverstone, he took over Karun Chandhok F110 at Hockenheim and will again race in the Indian's place this weekend.
“I can’t wait to go back to the Hungaroring as I know the circuit already very well from my Formula One races with Super Aguri, Spyker F1 and with ART in GP2 series," said the Japanese journeyman.
"The races there are always very tough because there is no big gap between the corners. You need a good braking stability and good traction on the car. I keep on pushing for another challenge and I hope that we are luckier than in Hockenheim.”
HRT team principal Colin Kolles made no mention of the driver selection and the reasons behind it in the team’s official pre-event press release, just that the team target a two-car finish.
In Germany, Chandhok's personal sponsor Jaypee Sports International remained on the F110 challenger while he opted to head home to England rather than watch the race from pits. It remains to be seen if Silverstone marked Chandhok’s last Grand Prix start with the team.
